Joe Ritch

Joe Ritch is a partner at the Sirote & Permutt law firm in Huntsville, Alabama, where he has worked since 1982. Areas of practice include business corporate matters, with a concentration on defense and aerospace companies engaged in advanced technologies. He is the firm’s co-chair of the Privacy & Data Security Practice Group.

Outside of the office, he  has served on numerous corporate and nonprofit agency boards, including serving since 1994 as the chairman  of the Tennessee Valley Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Committee.    He was appointed and confirmed by the senate to serve on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority in 2012 and served as the  Chairman  from 2014 to 2017.  , Ritch has served on the University of Alabama System  board of trustees, currently chairs the University of Alabama-Huntsville Eminent Scholars Foundation, and in 1979-1982 was founder and first head coach of the University of Alabama-Huntsville ice hockey program.

He has received the Huntsville Madison County Chamber of Commerce’s Distinguished Service Award and is a member of the North Alabama Business Hall of Fame.   He is also a member of the UAH and Huntsville Madison County’s sports halls of fame.  He is also a recipient of the National Space Club (Huntsville) Community Service Award.  He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by UAH in 2014.

A native of Selma, Alabama, Ritch is married to Lana C. Ritch.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, a law degree from Samford University, and a postgraduate law degree in taxation from New York University.
