Head of School, Greengate School
Dr. Debbie Hargett has served as the Greengate Head of School since 2014. Debbie is a highly respected school administrator, widely known for her 28 years of teaching and school leadership in Huntsville City School system, where she served as principal of Chapman Elementary School, Huntsville Middle School, and Huntsville High School. Her strong leadership and dedication to high quality education for all students greatly benefit Greengate students as well as dyslexic students across the area. Debbie holds Master’s degrees in Education and School Administration, and an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership. She has completed associate level training from the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. In August, Dr. Hargett will join the Randolph School administration as Head of Greengate School at Randolph.
Head of School, Randolph School
Jay Rainey will begin his fifth year as Head of School at Randolph School in July. Prior to his move to Huntsville, Jay worked for twelve years at Norfolk Academy in Norfolk, Virginia, during which time he taught high school math and English, coached the swim team, served as a college counselor, and led curriculum development efforts. He holds an A.B. degree in Religion from Princeton University and an M.A. in American Studies from the College of William and Mary. Prior to Norfolk Academy, Jay worked in Chicago and Richmond, where he founded and directed businesses providing educational software and services for educators and students. In addition to his leadership at Randolph, Jay also serves on the boards of the Southern Association of Independent Schools, the Alabama Independent Schools Association, and The Village of Promise. Jay and his wife, Ruth, have two teenage children, Jed and Elizabeth, and a lazy bulldog named Silas.
